My Budokon Mixed Movement Arts classes combine the different modalities of the Budokon Yoga, Mobility, Calisthenics, Animal Locmotion, Martial Arts, Soft Acrobatics and Meditation.

Today we had so much fun, and I always encourage students to tap into their inner child and think of these classes as play time for themselves. It helps reduce anxiety and self doubt immediately. 🥋😋

We did some Budokon Yoga, Section 1 - Awakening to warm up and work through some spinal undulations. Followed by Budokon Mobility drills and sequences and finished off with some Kip Up practice together and closed with Meditation and a Bow Out. Done! 😎

I've never felt more free, more alive and more grateful than I am this year! 2024 has been a year where I chose to make a sincere effort to push myself further than I've ever done, to reach for my dreams, pour love into myself and those I love, make beautiful memories and live a life that's true to who I am. 💖💖💖

Ironically, I'm terrified of all the things I've done...stepping outside of my comfort zone repeatedly, sharing what I'm most passionate about and challenging myself to embracing the unknown has made me feel so much more confident and proud. 

Looking back now, I see how beautiful life can be when you appreciate the little moments but shoot for the stars.✨️ This truly brings joy to my soul. 

I've met some beautiful people along the way who I love and appreciate so very much. They inspire me to grow further. 

I'm so excited to see what 2025 has in store. 💖😁 

I learned that even when you feel scared, feel the fear and do it anyways and listen to your heart. Always...

I'm still trying to figure that part out 100%, but I know when it whispers it's time to listen. ❤

Try using your own Body to train with. Think of it as using and supporting your own body mass to get stronger and more athletic. 💪 

So many times, I see people resist this approach because it can feel very uncomfortable, spazzy and frustrating. 

Students who come onto the mat and are asked to support their own bodyweight through non linear movements sometimes freak out because they may have been under the impression it was easier. You've got to be stronger than this and persevere because it's  natural for humans to move functionally with their own bodies. 

If you can't. There's a problem. 

Many tell me, they're too stiff, too big, or have zero flexibility, or too weak. 

These are excuses. 

It's all relative to your body. 

Be patient and face the music 🎶 

Your body needs diversity and it needs movement disruption if you want to feel healthy, functional and confident in your abilities for life. 🙏

This year I've been lucky enough to achieve some pretty cool mobility transitions. However, if I'm being honest, I only really do them once I have done a few failed attempts and my body is properly warmed up. I'm not a fan of attempting these when you're still cold or as a warm up, because they're technical movements mechanically and you could injure yourself if not done correctly. 🙏

I love using repetitions and sets of these moves as opposed to flowing through them because it really builds mind to muscle connection, confidence and proficiency. I'll only flow through them sequentially if I feel I'm warm and confident in the skill. That's just where I'm at in my practice right now. 💫

You don't have to rush through these. You can go slowly. 5 minutes a day and that's it. Rest. Try again another day. I feel like a complete spazz with these when learning too, but eventually it gets smoother if you allow yourself to mess up and be a beginner. 🙏🔥💙
