By leaning just beyond your fear, you challenge your limits compassionately, without trying to escape the feeling of fear itself. You step beyond the solid ground of security with an open heart. You stand in the space of unknowingness, raw and awake. Here, the gravity of deep being will attend you to the only place where fear is obsolete: the eternal free fall of home. Where you always are. Own your fear, and lean just beyond it. In every aspect of your life. Starting now. βš”οΈπŸ”₯πŸ™

What a powerful way to spend a Saturday, and having the world champion @dricusduplessis at my first competition was just amazing! πŸ’ͺ😎πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

    You've come a long way...

When you look back on your path through life, it's not many stumbling steps that you'll recall, but one great journey. Not consecutive defeats, but cumulative victory. Not that you were often lost, but that you always found your way. πŸ‘οΈ

You won't see time wasted, but lessons learned. Not the pain, but the wisdom. Not the loss, but the recovery. Not the droughts or the floods, but the rhythm of seasons. You won't see the struggle, but its meaning: that YOU are better now than before. πŸ™

And that's all that matters. βš”οΈ

I sometimes don't know what to post, so I thought perhaps you'd like to see some of my practice today. I worked very slowly (this is slightly sped up) through the Budokon Yoga Primary Series. This is a section in the series where we come to remembering our roots and our ability to crawl, using animal locomotive patterns to enhance strength, mental resilience, flexibility, plyometrics and mobility.

I chose to do the practice for me today. It's always for me, but sometimes along with teaching and sharing I sometimes forget that my practice is most important and just being in nature, moving and finding personal freedom in that.

I've had a lot on my plate, with a recent personal bettle I'm about to face, and so it's helpful for me to find some focus, clarity and most importantly, my breath through this practice. πŸ™πŸ‰πŸ₯‹βš”οΈπŸ‘οΈβœ¨

It helps me to remember to be open to new experiences and to be present in them, despite them feeling uncomfortable. ❀️

This practice is hard, but it teaches you to tap into the inner Warrior within. πŸ”₯
We often force our bodies into spaces or intensities that we're not ready for. It's important to prime the body, to listen to it's calls, so we can develop an elite level of body intelligence and self awareness that can allow us to do those more intense practices with better precision and efficiency. πŸ‰πŸ”₯

If you throw yourself into giant movements without priming the joints or leave directly after explosively exerting yourself without doing a proper mobility cool down or warm up, that's when we get hurt or misunderstand what our bodies truly need to progress. πŸ‘οΈβš”οΈπŸ”₯

Sometimes slowing down helps us to speed up. πŸ™

For example, trying to sprint before you can run, or running before you can walk. πŸ’ͺ

The Kip Up is a dynamic movement that requires explosive power and core strength. πŸ‰πŸ”₯πŸ‘οΈπŸ™

πŸ‘‰Here's how to do it:

1. Start by lying on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the ground.
2. Roll your body weight onto your shoulders, lifting your hips off the ground.
3. As you roll back, use your momentum to kick your legs upward and extend them towards the sky.
4. Push off with your hands and bring your torso forward while simultaneously tucking your knees towards your chest.
5. Use your arms to push off the ground and bring your feet underneath you, landing on your feet in a squat or standing position.

πŸ‘‰Now, let's talk about why it's beneficial in Martial Arts & Mobility:

1. Explosive Power: The Kip Up requires explosive power from your legs and core muscles, which is essential for generating quick and forceful movements in martial arts.πŸ”₯πŸ₯ŠπŸ₯‹

2. Core Strength: It engages your core muscles, helping to develop stability and control, which are crucial for maintaining balance and executing precise movements.πŸ‰πŸ™πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

3. Agility and Coordination: Learning the Kip Up improves agility and coordination, both of which are fundamental in martial arts for fluid transitions between different techniques and positions.πŸŒ€πŸ˜Žβš”οΈ

4. Body Awareness: Mastering the Kip Up enhances body awareness and proprioception, which are essential for understanding and controlling your body's movements effectively in Budokon practice.πŸ‰πŸ”₯

Overall, the Kip Up is a versatile movement that not only strengthens muscles but also improves agility, coordination, and body control, making it a valuable addition to our Budokon Mobility curriculum.πŸ™

    You can't afford a Weak Spirit. πŸ”₯πŸ‘οΈβš”οΈ

Internal Resistance is the biggest reason I have found we do not achieve the desired outcome to any given goal. ✨✨

I've realised that it's a natural response humans have to anything that is perceived to offer a challenge, or a fear, or the worst...failure, to which we must learn to overcome.

You see we are so focused on Success and achieving the Ideal Outcome...but what about Showing Up for yourself daily and committing to that journey and just simply being in that? πŸ‘οΈ

This is simply a survival mode and you're operating form autopilot mode. πŸ™ But, if you really want to experience growth and achieve those amazing things you see others doing, yet you feel stuck...

YOU CAN CHANGE THIS PATTERN. However, it starts with NOW. Instead of putting off the things you REALLY NEED, start dedicating time slots to do those things. Do the thing!

Or else we fall victim to laziness and complacency and accept the comfort of mediocrity. πŸ‘οΈπŸ”₯πŸ‰

If I could tell my younger self one thing, it would be that you've got to believe in yourself. I've realised how scary it can be to believe in yourself, because doing that means letting go of life as you know it. ❀️ I've done a lot of letting go over the last few years, but contrasting to that has been a lot of receiving too.

Sometimes we must let go of old identities, shed our skin, to reveal a new, you. I used to hold so tightly to the idea of looking a certain way, being perfect. I was so tightly hanging onto a skinny version of myself, that it shrunk my whole world. I've taken steps to release her, from this identity as she wasnt serving me.

It meant embracing a stronger, healthier identity and accepting the idea that this one might shift over time too is perfectly okay. We must keep moving throughout life, and not be stuck in it. βœ¨πŸŒ€

My weight on this earth is now more about the impact I have on other people's hearts, the lives I hope to inspire, the untapped potential I meet, the friends, community I make and the family I love.

Knowing this makes the physical far less important and the heart essential. ❀️ Having said that there doesn't go a day where I don't struggle with this, so don't ever think there's something wrong with you if you do too.

It hasn't been easy, but it's been worth it. I stepped on a scale for the first time in over a year...yes, I weighed more. But that weight is strength, muscle, health and no longer throwing up my food or restricting myself to the bone.

It is being myself, enjoying a healthy life filled with beautiful experiences, movement, fitness, adventure, food, friends and love! ✨❀️😁πŸ”₯

This is the biggest thing - it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks. The only thing that matters is what YOU think and feel. ❀️

My face says it all. 🀣 No, but in all honesty, ask yourself this question: Will I ACTUALLY benefit from just dropping in?

The thing is I am not against it, in fact, I am all for mixing it up, trying out new things, and if you're a busy person I do get it. However, what I am not a fan of is those who want to Drop In, because they cannot commit to something.

If you were really serious about it, then you wouldn't choose to Drop In. If you're going to Drop In, then at least commit to dropping in. 🀣

The issue with dropping in, is that it tells your Brain indirectly that it's okay, I don't need to go if I don't want to. Therefore....YOU WONT GO! πŸ€£πŸ˜‰

No master, has ever just dropped in! If you want to see results and start experiencing changes, then you've got to commit to something! Whether it's just once a week or 5 times a week. COMMIT. βš”οΈπŸ”₯πŸ™πŸ˜Ž

Give this Budokon HIIT Workout a try! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ Power & Agility. 😁

I'm focusing on endurance for a little bit, especially after being so sick. I think we can all agree that the flu going around at the moment is pretty terrible. Anyhow, I've had to take time to recover, but after years of knowing my body, I understand how important it is to stay moving.

I need to keep my cardio, strength and endurance up even if it means not being able to train my usual Jits, Muay Thai or Judo. These Budokon style HIIT sessions are amazing, the heart rate soars but they quick on time.

That's what I'm all about right now. If you're keen, give this a try! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

"If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him. He meant that those who think they've found all the answers in any path or religion need to start questioning."

Finding balance whether it's upside down in a handstand or in life is a constant work of art, it's always in progress. We will find ourselves rebalancing often. Sometimes you find it and sometimes you don't. It's the little game we play in this beautiful, wild life. βœ¨πŸ€©πŸŒ€

Over the past few days, I've been on an emotional rollercoaster with this whole USA visa crap. It is a bit of a mess to be honest. However, I'm left with the below words:

"A true warrior understands to not avoid uncertainty and the unknown. A true warrior understands that we cannot control nor know what will happen in the future. A true warrior knows though, that wherever they go, THEY will BE. A true warrior has the wisdom of the strength and softness to be in discomfort, to sit with what is, to fight what could be." βš”οΈ

This quote resonates deeply with me, reminding me that true strength lies in embracing uncertainty and being present in the moment, ready to face whatever comes my way. I may not have all the answers, but I trust in my journey, knowing that when the time is right, everything will fall into place. πŸ‰βœ¨β€οΈ

This situation has been messing with my heart big time. It's a profound emotional experience for me, processing the intersection of disappointment and determination. Yet, through it all, my love for Budokon remains strong, guiding me forward with a sense of purpose and resilience.πŸ™

You know those jiu-jitsu warriors or combat athletes who go full throttle during a session, then just peace out without so much as a stretch? πŸ™πŸ˜‚πŸ₯‹πŸ₯ŠπŸ‘οΈ (All of us do it!) πŸ˜‰

I swear, it's like they're made of titanium or something! Me? Oh, I couldn't pull that off if my life depended on it. After a tough roll, I'm all about the post-workout pamperingβ€”stretching, mobility work, maybe a little breathwork to regain some semblance of sanity. βœ¨πŸ‘Œ

Sure, it might seem like I'm taking the slow route, but statistically speaking, it's what sets you up to be a stronger fighter in the long run. Research shows that enhancing mobility and regulating your body after intense training not only reduces the risk of injuries but also improves overall performance. βš”οΈπŸ’ͺπŸ”₯😎

And when it comes to cool downs, nothing beats Budokon. It combines the fluid movements of yoga, the strength drills of Calisthenics, with the precision and discipline of martial arts, making it the ultimate movement practice for combat athletes.πŸ‰πŸ‘οΈπŸ₯ŠπŸ₯‹

Practicing things that are difficult, is of course difficult. But some of us, many of us, need to do hard things. We require the challenge. So many of us fear difficulty as if it's going to kill us, when in fact, it's going to make us grow and build character and skill. πŸ”₯πŸ‘οΈβš”οΈπŸ’ͺ

Don't shy away from doing hard things again and again because there's an easier option. Do it because you know you need it.

It's often the little things in life that show us there is hope, there is light in the darkness. Sometimes you just have to look to notice these moments. Today I felt so anxious, I could feel my monkey mind going crazy, and I knew I was overthinking and yet I couldn't stop. Thinking is a survival mechanism. There is a lot going on, and I felt as if I had let myself down in a way, which is ridiculous because my past, younger self, would only have dreamed of being the person I am today.

But somehow the sunshine found me in a place you'd least expect (it sounds cliche) but it really did and it was a reminder that I am protected, supported and loved and no matter what we are always going to be okay. β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈ
