Yes, this is your life, and though it can be unpredictable, and messy, even though it can break you down - you are going to survive it. You will always survive it.

    Try using your own Body to train with. Think of it as using and supporting your own body mass to get stronger and more athletic. 💪 

So many times, I see people resist this approach because it can feel very uncomfortable, spazzy and frustrating. 

Students who come onto the mat and are asked to support their own bodyweight through non linear movements sometimes freak out because they may have been under the impression it was easier. You've got to be stronger than this and persevere because it's  natural for humans to move functionally with their own bodies. 

If you can't. There's a problem. 

Many tell me, they're too stiff, too big, or have zero flexibility, or too weak. 

These are excuses. 

It's all relative to your body. 

Be patient and face the music 🎶 

Your body needs diversity and it needs movement disruption if you want to feel healthy, functional and confident in your abilities for life. 🙏

    This year I've been lucky enough to achieve some pretty cool mobility transitions. However, if I'm being honest, I only really do them once I have done a few failed attempts and my body is properly warmed up. I'm not a fan of attempting these when you're still cold or as a warm up, because they're technical movements mechanically and you could injure yourself if not done correctly. 🙏

I love using repetitions and sets of these moves as opposed to flowing through them because it really builds mind to muscle connection, confidence and proficiency. I'll only flow through them sequentially if I feel I'm warm and confident in the skill. That's just where I'm at in my practice right now. 💫

You don't have to rush through these. You can go slowly. 5 minutes a day and that's it. Rest. Try again another day. I feel like a complete spazz with these when learning too, but eventually it gets smoother if you allow yourself to mess up and be a beginner. 🙏🔥💙

    The Budokon Komodo Dragon Long Backstep is a dynamic movement that combines mobility and combat readiness, ideal for improving body intelligence. 🤓🔥

I love this movement because it strengthens coordination for forward and backward stepping, especially useful when transitioning in and out of guard positions. Through controlled backsteps, it enhances fluidity and balance, vital for grapplers and martial artists. ⚔️

I’m currently learning and studying this movement as part of the Budokon Combat Conditioning programme, where I continue to refine my mobility and movement efficiency and my jiujitsu.🙏🐉

    Determination is everything when it comes to learning something new or achieving a goal. 🔥⚔️

Take my experience learning the front headspring, for example. I failed countless times, landing on my back more often than not. But no matter how many times I missed the mark, I kept going. I honed in, stayed determined, and finally, I landed it. Sure, there’s still room for improvement, but the key is that I didn’t give up after the first attempt. 💙

Just because you don’t get something right away doesn’t mean you won’t. People tend to give up too easily. The moment they feel discomfort, difficulty, or frustration, they retreat. Instead, turn that frustration into motivation to come back stronger. Be brave. Stay determined. You might surprise yourself.☀️🐵🙏

🙌Budokon mobility has also taught me that it’s not about holding a static asana; it’s about controlling how you enter and exit it. The real magic is in the transitions, not the static shapes. You wouldn’t just stand still while learning to walk—you move. It’s the same in movement practice.💥

    Rolling waves are a primary transitional style in the Budokon Movement Matrix System, but essentially they help us to learn how to create waves that connect the lower body and the upper body to essentially establish spinal mobility and integrated movement (one big flow). 💙🐉

I began using these waves not only as a method to transition from shape to shape, but also a way to bridge the gap between Strength Training and Mobility/Flexibility Training. 🤸‍♀️🔥

Usually when I would only train strength, I would become stiff and sore and my muscles felt over activated. But then when learning how to use the breath along with Rolling Waves and Softening through mobility or flexibility sequences during the strength session, I learned how to establish a fine balance. ♎

If you're burning out quickly during your session, perhaps you need to learn when to soften and breathe and mobilise, so that you can quickly recover to continue with the strength work. 💪

These qualities overlap, which is why a practice is so important for your overall athleticism. 🙏
